Teyana Taylor participou do programa "My Super Sweet 16" da MTV e deu sorte de cair nas graças do gênio Pharrell Williams. O produtor rapidamente enxergou o talento da moça e lançou pelo seu selo Star Trak o primeiro álbum da novaiorquina, "From a Planet Called Harlem", que traz o single "Google Me". Ela dança horrores e foi convidada por Beyoncé pra coreografar o vídeo de "Ring the Alarm" e também fez uma ponta no clipe de "Blue Magic", de Jay Z. Belíssima e dona de um senso fashion incrível já saiu em várias revistas de moda e desfilou para a Diesel.

Ela saiu na capa da edição de verão da revista Rap-Up como uma das novas apostas do R&B ao lado da irmã de Beyoncé, Solange Knowles (que traz em seu segundo álbum produções de Pharrell, Cee-Lo e Mark Ronson), e de Keri Hilson (que canta "The Way I Are", do álbum de Timbaland).
